Privacy & Permissions

Does FixedShot collect any data?
No. FixedShot collects zero data. No personal information, no browsing history, no page content, no analytics, no telemetry. The extension makes no network requests at all — your screenshots never leave your computer. Read our full privacy policy.
Why does Chrome say “Manage your downloads”?
FixedShot saves captured screenshots to your Downloads folder. That’s the only permission we ask for. We deliberately avoided permissions for browsing history and blanket website access that most other screenshot extensions require.
Does FixedShot access my browsing history?
No. We don’t use the tabs permission, so Chrome never gives us access to your browsing history, open tabs, or URLs you visit.
Can FixedShot see the content of pages I visit?
Only when you explicitly activate it. FixedShot injects its viewfinder only on the page where you click the button or press the shortcut. It does not run in the background or inject into other pages.
Does FixedShot send screenshots to a server?
No. There is no code in FixedShot that makes HTTP requests, opens WebSockets, or communicates with any server. Capture, crop, encode, and save all happen locally in your browser.
How is FixedShot more private than other screenshot extensions?
Most screenshot extensions (Awesome Screenshot, Nimbus, etc.) require “Read and change all your data on all websites” and “Read your browsing history.” FixedShot requires neither. We use on-demand injection so we only touch the page you’re actively using, and only when you ask.

Features

What makes FixedShot different from GoFullPage or Lightshot?
GoFullPage captures entire pages. Lightshot lets you freeform-drag a selection. Neither lets you lock the capture region to exact pixel dimensions before selecting. FixedShot’s viewfinder is always at your chosen size — you just position it.
What preset sizes are available?
Hero (1600×900, 16:9) for full-width images, Section (800×600, 4:3) for column images, and Custom for any width and height. Cycle presets with Tab while the viewfinder is active.
Can I save to a specific folder?
Yes. Enter a subfolder path like screenshots/dynamics in settings. FixedShot creates the folders automatically. A live preview shows the full save path as you type.
What file formats are supported?
WebP with adjustable quality (10–100) and PNG (lossless). WebP at quality 80 keeps most screenshots under 200KB.
How does the auto-numbering work?
Sequential captures get clean -01, -02, -03 suffixes instead of Chrome’s default (1). The counter resets when you change pages or presets.
Does it support Retina displays?
Yes. Set resolution to 2x (Retina) or 3x (Ultra). The viewfinder scales so the output file matches your exact target dimensions. FixedShot auto-detects display DPR.
Can I copy to clipboard?
Yes. Click Clipboard in the toolbar or press Shift+Enter. The image copies as PNG and also saves to Downloads.

Troubleshooting

FixedShot doesn’t work on a page.
Chrome extensions can’t run on chrome:// pages, the Chrome Web Store, or PDF viewers. If you see a red badge on the icon, navigate to a regular website.
Captures look blurry.
Match the Resolution setting to your display. Retina Mac = 2x. Standard 1080p = 1x.
Keyboard shortcut doesn’t work.
Check chrome://extensions/shortcuts — another extension may have claimed Alt+Shift+F. You can reassign it.
